Two Port Byron Seniors recently signed to play basketball at Cayuga Community College (CCC) next fall.

Lexi Elliott, who plays both point and shooting guard, and Maria Burns, who plays forward, were recruited by Coach Alberici to join the CCC program.

Initially, Elliott accepted the offer to play at CCC. She then worked to convince her friend to do the same.

“I was planning on playing field hockey,” Burns said. “But all the places I got offers from didn’t have the program I wanted.”

Not just stars on the court, both girls went to the final four of states with their Port Byron Field Hockey team this year. 

Burns intends to spend a year in the CCC radiology program and then hopes to transfer to Upstate for her bachelor’s degree.

For Elliott, it was a chance to pursue her RN in nursing. She intends to complete the two-year CCC program and then get a job working in the field.
