The school district does not accept payment on campus. All tax payments must be made at Savannah Bank, 126 Main St., Port Byron, NY 13140 or mailed to PO Box 711, Port Byron, NY 13140.

2026-2027 Budget
School Budget Vote: Tuesday, May 19, 2026

Proposition 1: 2026-2027 Budget
Shall the Board of Education of the Port Byron Central School District, Cayuga and Wayne Counties, New York, be authorized to adopt the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2026-2027 in the amount of $30,075,394.00 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property for the District?
Proposition 2: Transportation Purchase
Shall the Board of Education of the Port Byron Central School District be authorized to purchase and finance two (2) 64-passenger student transport vehicles and one (1) student transport SUV, including necessary furnishings, fixtures and equipment and all other costs incidental thereto, and expend a total sum not to exceed $460,000, which is estimated to be the total maximum cost thereof, and said amount, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law; and, in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District, in the principal amount not to exceed $460,000, be issued?
Proposition 3: Voters to Elect Three (3) Members of the Board of Education
Port Byron Central School District residents will elect three (3) members of the Board of Education to 3-year terms commencing July
1, 2026 and expiring June 30, 2029, to fill vacancies of the expiring terms of Benjamin Vitale, Peter Svitavsky, and Paul Ryan.
Benjamin Vitale
Benjamin Vitale is running for his ninth full term on the Port Byron Central School District Board of Education. In his time serving on the Board of Education, Mr. Vitale has served as board president, board vice president, as a member of the board’s audit committee and as a member of the board’s budget committee. He is a graduate of Port Byron CSD and has lived within the district on his family farm for most of his life.
When Ben is not busy on the farm, or at meetings, his interest lies in serving agriculture and his community. As a graduate of Port Byron Central School District, he takes great pride in the fact that the fourth consecutive generation of his family are currently attending the school that he is so proud of.
Peter V. Svitavsky
Peter and Janine Svitavsky have been residents of Port Byron for twenty-five years and are proud to have raised a daughter and a son in the district. Pete has a degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institure and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He works as an engineer and project manager in Syracuse and on-site locations throughout our country and beyond. Pete has been a coach and a president of the Port Byron Youth Wrestling Club and is a strong supporter of Port Byron’s excellent performing arts programs.
Pete has been a member of the school board since 2018.
“I am proud of our community, and I am grateful for the experiences that my children have had at Port Byron’s schools. I am eager to help keep us moving forward, and to help make sure that all of our children have an opportunity to choose their own path to success,” Svitavsky said.
Dr. Paul W. Ryan
Dr. Paul W. Ryan is a current member of the Port Byron Board of Education. He is married and has three adult children all of whom graduated from PBCSD.
Education: Doctor of Chiropractic, Northeast College of Health Sciences, 1989 private practice, Ryan Chiropractic and Wellness, PLLC. He is a former adjuct professor of New York Chiropractic College.
Public Office: Current member of the PBCSD BOE who previously served as president and vice president, Cayuga Community College alumni board member where he served as president and vice president, member of the Throop town board, Deputy Supervisor of Throop, Cayuga/Onondaga School Board association where he served as president.
“It has been a pleasure to serve on the PBCSD Board of Education. I would like to thank this board, the administrators and staff, the students and the community who all come together as a team to make our district a great place to raise our families. If re-elected, I will continue to support the district administrators, education and support staff in preparing our students to thrive after graduation,” Ryan said.
