Three Port Byron Students Earn Recognition in Scholastic Art Awards

Port Byron Central School District is proud to recognize three students for their outstanding achievements in the prestigious Scholastic Art Awards, a national program that honors creative excellence in visual arts and writing.
Senior Haven Alfred earned a Gold Key in Photography for the piece “Reflections in the Rain.” Gold Key awards represent the highest level of regional recognition. Entries that
receive a Gold Key are automatically advanced to national judging, where they are considered for Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and scholarship awards, as well as other distinguished national honors.
Also earning recognition were Luciana DeBois and Nikko Giacona.
DeBois received three Honorable Mentions in Photography for her works “Dog’s View,” “Glass Half Full,” and “Piece of Cake.” Her submissions demonstrate creativity, thoughtful composition, and a strong visual narrative.
Giacona was awarded an Honorable Mention in Drawing for his piece “The Fade Away,” highlighting technical skill and artistic expression.
The Scholastic Art Awards program celebrates student artists at both the regional and national levels, providing opportunities for recognition, exhibition, and scholarships.
These honors reflect the dedication and talent of Port Byron’s student artists.
