Port Byron Central School District Welcomes a New Face
With a long history of leadership experience in education, Tracy Musso is excited to step in as the principal at A.A. Gates Elementary School.
Musso, who officially started her new role on July 1, began her career in education as a secondary English teacher at Southern Cayuga High School. She then spent time as an English Integration Specialist for the CTE programs at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES before transitioning into the role of an Instructional Coach. Musso then assumed the role of a Curriculum Coordinator while working towards her administrative degree, which ultimately led her to the position at Port Byron.
“I have always aspired to be an elementary school principal, so I was excited and extremely grateful to have the opportunity to apply and be appointed to the position,” said Musso.
Musso said she can definitely empathize with the challenges faced by students, teachers, and community members over the course of the pandemic and is eager to help students reclaim the joy of learning in such a supportive, positive environment.
When asked what drew her to the position at Port Byron, she put a strong emphasis on an incredibly collaborative team, an outstanding staff, and a supportive community that is deeply committed to doing what’s best for students.
“It’s such a strong partnership. I am beyond excited to be a part of a district that is so student-centered and willing to do whatever it takes to enrich the lives of all students,” said Musso.
