Port Byron Names Hare and Doerle Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Port Byron Central School District proudly recognizes Brennan Hare as the Valedictorian and Marlena Doerle as the Salutatorian for the Class of 2025. These two exceptional students have demonstrated unwavering dedication, passion, and leadership throughout their high school careers, leaving a lasting impact on their peers, teachers, and community.
While both are still finalizing their college decisions, both plan to continue their education in the fall. Hare plans to pursue a degree in history with aspirations of becoming an archivist, while Doerle will study kinesiology.
When asked about their favorite teachers, both found it impossible to choose just one, agreeing that many Port Byron educators have impacted them over the years. Despite their different academic interests, they both share a love for Spanish, with Doerle also expressing a deep appreciation for her science classes.
Beyond the classroom, both students have been actively involved in extracurricular activities. Doerle participated in volleyball, field hockey, band, choir, and the environmental club. Hare, who earned a spot in Area All-State for bass clarinet, has been a dedicated member of band, choir, jazz band, jazz choir, drama club, and the masterminds team.
Reflecting on their time at Port Byron, they cherish the connections and memories they’ve made. For Hare, the most meaningful moments come from younger students expressing their appreciation.
"When younger kids tell me they’re going to miss me—if they come up and say they liked having me in school with them, that means a lot," Hare said.
For Doerle, sports created some of her most treasured experiences.
"I got to meet a ton of people of all ages and build connections with them," Doerle said. Beyond athletics, she will always appreciate the friendships and the welcoming atmosphere at Port Byron. “I like the environment here,” she added.
As they look ahead, both students are excited—but also a little nervous—about the next chapter. Hare hopes to continue participating in music, while Doerle looks forward to playing club volleyball in college. The transition to living away from home brings a mix of emotions.
"Not living with my parents is a little scary," Hare admitted.
Congratulations to Brennan and Marlena on their well-earned achievements! Port Byron is proud of you and excited to see all you accomplish in the future.
