Port Byron Central School District taking strides to enhance STEAM Education

 for all students

Port Byron, NY - Port Byron Central School District is taking strides to enhance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education by introducing Woz Ed kits for students from UPK through 12th grade. Created by Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, Woz Ed K12 aims to equip students with the essential skills needed for success in the rapidly evolving tech economy.

By engaging students in hands-on, innovative activities such as stop-motion animation, artificial intelligence, drones, and coding, the district is enhancing its STEAM education efforts.

The implementation of Woz Ed kits across all grade levels reflects the district's commitment to providing equitable learning opportunities. These curriculum kits also ensure that teachers are well-equipped with the resources needed to enrich STEAM lessons, aligning with both science and engineering practices and the new computer science standards.

Additionally, the district has strategically selected Woz Ed kits to complement the upcoming STEAM Spaces. The STEAM hallway, set to be remodeled over the next year, will serve as a dynamic environment where students can explore and expand their STEAM skills.

This exciting development will provide students with the tools and experiences necessary to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world, setting them on a path toward high-demand careers in the tech industry.

Another significant addition to the district’s resources is the Anatomage Table, which will be used in high school science classrooms. The Anatomage Table revolutionizes anatomy education by providing an interactive 3D visualization tool that enhances student learning through detailed, life-like models of the human body.

This cutting-edge technology will play a crucial role in the Anatomy and Physiology course offered through the Medical Distance Learning Pathway. The table enhances the lab component of the class by providing interactive 3D models of the human body, as well as activities for chemistry, biology, and physics.

The Anatomage Table expands learning by offering an immersive, hands-on experience that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application. Its life-like models of the human body allow for detailed exploration and understanding, without the ethical and logistical concerns of traditional cadavers.

By integrating the WozEd kits and the Anatomage Table into the curriculum, Port Byron Central School District is sparking student interest in STEAM fields and better preparing them for higher education and future success in STEAM industries.
