Oct. 5 Varsity Football Game to Feature Raffle, Proceeds Benefitting Scholarship

At halftime of Oct. 5's varsity football game at Alberici Field, a drawing will be held to win a hand-crafted 3'x5' wooden American flag. Proceeds from the raffle will support the USMC Sgt. Jerome C. Bell Jr. Memorial Scholarship.

Marine Staff Sgt. Jerome C. Bell Jr. was killed on Sept. 19, 2008, when his Humvee struck a roadside bomb. Bell, a Port Byron graduate, was a heavy equipment operator/mechanic who had served two tours in Iraq before deploying to Afghanistan.

The scholarship in his name supports two graduates of the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Heavy Equipment Repair and Operation program each year.
Raffle tickets for the drawing cost $5 each, or can be purchased as a bundle of five for $20.

  • From the Port Byron offices (see Mrs. Recckio or Mrs. Slayton)
  • From members of the varsity football team
  • At this week’s modified football and field hockey games
  • Members of the cheerleading team will have tickets available during the varsity football game on Friday, 10/5
