MySchoolBucks increases online transaction fee
Port Byron Central School District parents and guardians who use the online payment system MySchoolBucks to manage their child's meal accounts will soon see an increase in the vendor's transaction fee.
Effective Dec. 11, the fee for electronically adding funds to a child's meal account will increase to $2.49 per transaction. The $0.54 increase will help offset credit card processing fees, according to the vendor.
MySchoolBucks allows parents to securely prepay for student meals online, view student purchases, enable low-balance settings, and setup recurring payments so the system will automatically add money to the account when the balance reaches the threshold set. The district partners with the vendor to provide convenience for parents and does not manage or benefit from the program's transaction fees.
Parents and guardians can still make cash or check payments directly to the district's food service department. School cafeteria cashiers can provide balance information to students.

Information about Port Byron Central School District's food service program
All meals and snacks served at Port Byron Central School meet New York state child nutrition and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines.
If your child has a food allergy, please notify the School Nurse (ext. 1151 or 1321) so that the district's food service team can prepare a meal according to the student's dietary guidelines.

Free breakfast and lunch meals available for all students
Regardless of family income levels, all A.A. Gates Elementary School students (UPK through sixth grade) and Dana West Junior/Senior High School students (grades 7-12) are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch meals every day.
Here are some facts about the free-meal program:
- The program is currently offered to students attending both A.A. Gates Elementary School and Dana West Junior/Senior High School.
- A student, in order to receive breakfast and lunch for free, must accept the full meal with the meal's proper number of components. Breakfast must contain at least three items being served and lunch must contain at least three items being served, including a fruit or vegetable.
- Additional items, such as milk, ice cream or a double entree (i.e. a second slice of pizza) can be purchased.
- Juice, milk and additional items can be purchased by students who choose to bring their lunches to school.
Port Byron's food service team each day strives to reduce waste while preparing an adequate number of meals for students. Online meal payment system available
Port Byron Central School District parents and guardians can now manage student meal accounts using the online payment service provider MySchoolBucks.
MySchoolBucks allows parents and guardians to securely prepay for student meals and a la carte items online using a credit or debit card, view student purchases and sign-up to receive low-balance alerts.
This online system replaces MyLunchMoney, the point-of-sale system formerly used in Port Byron schools. All MyLunchMoney accounts, including student information, purchase history and profile details were transferred to MySchoolBucks at the end of last school year.
Parents who had active MyLunchMoney accounts last year can use their existing email address and password to access their new MySchoolBucks account. Parents who did not manage a student account with MyLunchMoney can create a free account.
A free MySchoolBucks app is available for smartphone users and can be downloaded from Apple iTunes (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
