Class of 2017 Senior Spotlight: Christopher Johnson

Port Byron Central School District senior Christopher Johnson is looking forward to attending college and achieving success.

This fall, Christopher, or “Jobbles” as he’s known to his friends, plans to study engineering at Alfred University.

While attending Dana L. West Junior/Senior High School, he was a member of jazz band, Allegro Youth Orchestra, Boy Scouts of America, and participated on the cross country, wrestling, and track teams. He was also a member of the Big Dog and Mat Power summer wrestling clubs.

Christopher said Port Byron’s wrestling coach Mr. Tom Green is his role model.

“He taught me the value of hard work,” Christopher said.

Christopher said his favorite academic subject was science and his favorite high school memories include wrestling and traveling to Costa Rica on a recent class trip.

As he prepares for his next chapter, Christopher said he hopes to do well in college.

“I fear failure,” he said. “I hope to overcome it by doing everything I possibly can to succeed.”

Christopher is the son of Gerald and Michele Johnson. He has two brothers, Matthew and Robert, and one dog, Wilbur.

Port Byron CSD is pleased to announce the return of “Senior Spotlight.” This weekly website series highlights the accomplishments and future plans of several graduating Dana L.
